New Bike

Finally got Daddy to build the bike he got for his birthday. Yeah it's a tricycle, but we're calling it a bike.

It is super sweet, got a bell, streamers, and it's RED!

Unfortunately it's nasty cold out still. Windy, and yeah, still snowy.

It's gonna be a good summer.

Drumsticks

Another play activity stolen from And Next Comes L. We drum all the time around here. We've got a set of kid spoons in the silverware drawer that is only used for drumming. Our stainless steel garbage can makes the best sounds, but we can drum anything. Even the baby likes drumming. (It sounds smarter if you call it drumming instead of banging.

These drum sticks were too cute not to make.

Never had family pictures before

This family had never had family pictures before. As in ever. We had to fix that.

Have you had family pictures? Even if you don't really want pictures of yourself, in 5 years, you'll wish you had pictures from now. I always think that I'm not getting pictures for now anyway, I'll just leave them in a box or on a disk for awhile. Until something's changed, then I'll want to see what it used to be like. Maybe the baby's walking now, maybe I lost 10 lbs, maybe JR's adult tooth filled in that cute gap that used to be there.

This is the last of my, ah-hem, "professional" pictures so far. I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with photography. I like taking pictures. I even really like editing pictures. I like being an inexpensive photographer too, so it's not like it will replace my income. But I do want to do it more. So if you have never had family pictures before, or if you just want to come play model for me, let me know!

Sensory play

I got this idea from my friend Dyan's blog here. We haven't played in the water for awhile, and now all of a sudden Tom doesn't like bath time! So I thought I'd try and get him interested in water again. And Jack always likes making a mess!

Basically we just played with bubbles in a tub on the kitchen floor.

We splashed and played with the bubbles. And Jack promptly climbed in the tub, as he always does. I don't have any pictures before his clothes came off because I was still making bubbles. Instead of pouring into the funnel and measuring and dumping with the spoons and cups, Jack was tossing cupfuls of water out of the tub, onto the fridge, on his brother, towards me, everywhere.

I tried to keep cool, remembering this was about sensory play and it was just soapy water, and according to Dyan, he'd like cleaning it up just as much. But eventually I called it quits and dumped the rest of the water.

Unfortunately my kids aren't as industrious as Dyan's. Or maybe don't have as good of an example of cleaning the floor. When I asked Jack to help dry it up and wash the floor all he wanted to do was throw wet rags on the floor and watch them splash!

I ended up with clean floor, because I was on my hands and knees scrubbing it, and I guess the boys got in their sensory play!

Daisy's vet day

Daisy has to go to the vet today. Just figured out how old she is. Only 6, despite everyone accusing her of being a decrepit old thing. She's just prematurely grey.

Oh gosh, so many things about this picture! Is everything changed? Daisy was tiny! That's when I just picked her up from the rescue place.  And yes that's me! What pretty hair I used to have...I won't get into anything else. And yeah, that's my car too.  Ah, so young!

Pretty Chill

This little dude was pretty mellow, despite the chaos that was going on around him. Chaos like 4 other kids playing across the room from him! Of course my kid was throwing, pushing, fighting and my other one was crying and whining. No wonder I offered to take baby pictures - I could ignore my monsters and hang out with this little guy!

Easter Eggs

Check out our cool Easter Eggs this year. Painted with finger paint and a paint brush. the same thing we always use. I wasn't sure how well they'd work on brown eggs so we brought out eyeballs and glue as well. I think they're hilarious.

Also note the size of these things! That middle one in the front row is a normal size egg, the rest don't even fit in the carton! Woo hoo for farm eggs!

Luke and Sam

New nieces and nephews! These are Tami's kids. We found another park with some pretty leaves. I won't say I wish it were fall, as it looks like practically the dead of winter right now, but I do love a warm autumn day.
